Tianjin Port Container Loading, Lashing & Ocean Export Full Process

Project Background

Commissioned by a Norwegian client, a batch of 9.8-meter spiral drill collars had to be loaded and exported at Tianjin Port. The cargo was over-length and the client specified a 40-foot general-purpose container (40HC), which, unlike a flat rack, cannot be lifted in or secured at multiple points — leaving very limited operating space and a high lashing difficulty.

Solution

• Loading plan design: Measured the drill collars against the internal container dimensions, designed a longitudinal layout, reserved space for front blocking and rear lashing, and strictly controlled the center of gravity to prevent load imbalance.
• On-site loading and lashing: A forklift pushed the cargo flat through the container door; anti-slip timber mats were laid on the floor, wooden stopper blocks were placed at the front, and multiple wire ropes were crossed and lashed to the corner fittings at the rear, forming a two-way front-and-rear constraint.
• Booking and export declaration: Locked the earliest sailing and completed export customs declaration in parallel to ensure on-time port delivery.
• End-to-end tracking: The operations and customer service teams shared progress in real time and synchronized each milestone with the Norwegian client.

• Extreme loading achieved: Precise placement and firm lashing were completed within the limited 40HC space, with no shifting or loosening.
• Safe and compliant shipment: The lashing plan passed terminal safety inspection with no rectification or delay.
